Peru

The diversity of this south-American country attracted Rudi and collegues. They explored during three months the magnificent nature of Peru. The goal for the first month was the Andean mountains. First we visited Lago Junin and the incredible landscape of 'Bosques de piedras'. Next was climbing several mountains. They reached the summit of the vulcano Mismi, passing the source of the amazon, and the mountain Pisco. Due to windy weather they didn't reach the summit of the vulcano Chachani. At last they skipped the climbing of Huascaran because of too high risk of avalanches. But alternatively they climbed the mountain chopicalqui just at 6000m altitude. The summit was just 300m higher but due to their physical condition they decided to turn back instead of taking risks.
They explored on the other side of the mountains the hot and humid tropical rainforest, starting at Tambopata National park and via the madre de dios river to Manu national park. At last on the way back to Lima, they explored a small island not far from Paracas national park.
